Hello,

I am interested in installing HIDs and am looking for a bluish tint but not over the top or purple... Any reco's on which temp I should Select? I read in another thread that DDM is the brand to go with. Did I get that right? DDM? Thanks!!

4300k should be pure white and have the most usable light. 5000k is bright white white with a hint of blue, 6000k white with a little more blue, etc. I've never used DDM but I heard their 6000k is more like 8000k. Also, 6000k from one brand is not necessarily the same color as 6000k from another brand.

The lower the number the less color you will have and more light output, The higher the number the less light output and more color you will have. Lower than 4k you will have yellowish colors, between 43000k and 8000k you will have blueish white colors, and 10,000k 12,000k and up will start giving you bluish purple all the way through violet colors. Temps are measured in Kelvin units and remember to buy the HID kit in 35w ratings to avoid melting you headlight housings.

I have 8000k DDM's and I put a very small amount of blue on the ground and it's somewhat to fairly blue head on.

4300-5000k will give you the most light. Depending on what you're running, they can all look bluish from the front. If you want the most light possible, you DON'T want to see any blue on the road from the driver's perspective. All the other drivers on the road DON'T want to see blue, because that is the worst, most glaring color.

DDM's typically are reliable, but their bulbs tend to be a little more blue and inconsistent, so I buy higher quality bulbs and run them with DDM ballasts. This seems to work just fine. I have 4300k Morimoto 5Five 50w-rated bulbs in my lows. They are like $40/pair, but they are pretty nice and are actually made for the higher wattage ballasts.

There's a ton of info on HID's out there, and on here. I'd recommend doing some research or just talking to someone in the know if you have questions. There is a lot of bad information to sift through, too. Feel free to ask me any questions, and I'll try to help you get set up right for as little money as possible, so you maximize your light, your look, and minimize glare and improper HID applications that can blind other drivers.

DenaliAK,
I have an 05 and think that the brights on them are as bright as I like them and although the color would be different, I will probably leave those alone. The fogs on the other hand can be on at the same time as the reg lights and so would you reco getting the fogs and hl done at the same time or do you think that's overkill?
