Okay so this has happened before and usually turning the truck off and on again usually puts the lights back in order and I don't pay much attention to it. This morning as I was literally 20 feet from parking my truck I noticed the N light (which is red) was on. Clearly I was in 2WD since the truck moved. I tried turning the truck off and turning it back on to no avail. When I try to switch to 4WD H or even 2WD H or Auto they just flash and then go out after awhile. I am not very worried about this cause the truck is locked in 2WD for the most part. Could the wiring be faulty? The last time this happened was years ago but it fixed itself. Also I have no idea how long this had been like this as I don't use it often.

Id like to say your encoder motor is malfunctioning , Don't know what they changed on the NBS trucks but that would be my first guess or a bad switch . as long as your Tcase is not making any weird noises I bet its safe to say that your hard parts are fine. are you getting a CEL or a Service 4x4 light?

I got no error codes chimes or service lights. I occasionally get a long single tone sound when I put the key in instead of the chimes (very random and not common). I doubt that has anything to do with this.

After work I turned the truck on and all was normal :wtf: I ran through all the gears and it was fine besides the normal loud bang for 4WD L (I park in a garage so). All felt normal. Maybe it was the humidity getting to the connections or something. I despise when I make a thread and the problem goes away before I can narrow it down. I keep my eye on it for awhile. Thanks for the insight Don.

No problem , to be honest It might not hurt to check the wiring underneath your truck going to and from the transfer case. I know this might not apply to you but when I was at RC I got stuck in 4hi and it turned out to be a broken wire, I would check to make sure none have burnt , broken or worn to bare copper

You might want to check your ground wires also, Mine had a bad ground that managed to take out both the tcm and the encoder within two weeks of each other. Good luck.
