New here, so I apologize in advance if this has been beaten to death (if so please refer me to thread)...

I'm looking for some good, OEM quality HIDs for my 05 Denali. I've had two different sets; first died after about 8 months, installed another set last summer and now passenger side is failing to light intermittently on startup. First set came from from a guy pretty well known and respected on another forum--don't remember his name (Mike?)--and second set came from xenon depot.

Anyway, I'm sick of dealing with flaky headlights and about ready to just install some HIR's, but if some one can recommend a good set of HID's I may give them another try. By good I don't mean some flashy blue/purple number--I'm looking for a high quality set of RELIABLE 4-5K bulbs/ballasts/relays. As always, aftermarket parts never seem to compare with OEM for reliability, but doesn't seem like it should be too much to ask them to last a few years at least.

So, any suggestions appreciated--however, I don't really need to hear about the fantastic set you installed last week/month. I'd really like to have some input from those who've had a set installed, ideally on a daily driver, for a year--or better yet, several.

Thanks.

Are you one of those that drive around with your HIDs on all the time? Maybe that's why, well I can't suggest anything to you since I'm one of those that's only had mine a few months.

Check out my thread through the link in my signature. On my phone or I'd give you
more info here, but I have links in that thread of who to contact. I have Matsushita ballasts, OEM on Nissan/Infiniti/Subaru and others. He sells kits or you can part
it out the way you want. They will cost more then a cheap kit, but they ignite every time and warm up is close to non-existant.

Thanks for the recommendation--exactly what I'm looking for. Though, I have to say I don't relish the thought of chopping up my headlight housings to upgrade the projectors. Also not real fond of the black Depos, but as you say they seem to be the only ones available at this point. Am wondering if there isn't some way to modify the stock projectors to accept D2S bulbs...

rat, if you wanted 'reflector' housings, the ONLY way to fly is Euro headlights. the E-code pattern is very very similar to an HID projectors pattern with 0 upthrown light.

Which coincidentally is why street signs in Europe are illuminated, not reflectors like here.

While not NO glare, they are minimal glare as only the 15 degree upsweep on the passengerside would cause issues, and only briefly to the vehicle being passed, or perhaps at a 4 way intersection.

RE the DS2 adapters, they were once available at the HIDplanet store for some limited fitments, but I think the store is gone now.

EDIT: nevermind, denalis didn;t make it to Europe, only Tahoe.
Depo Chromes and DanaliAKs TSX retro would have been cheaper anyway :)

I tink ifyou aren;t ready to jump into a full on retro, you can try rebasing a DS2 to 9005. I've read of it being done over on HIDplanet
