I've discovered the problem with my amp, and it is the REM wire, I spliced them and it turned on, now my question is, if I can't wire it to the back of my deck (doesn't seem to offer enough power or something) where can I wire it and how.

I've been told to pull out a fuse from something that turns on with the ignition, like radio or heater, put the wire in, then wedge the fuse back in. This however doesn't seem like the best plan of action, any other ideas?

Thanks again for all your help guys, and sorry for well all the questions...

Im not sure why it wouldnt be getting enough power from the deck to the amp with the remote wire, but if your sure thats the case then you could use another ignition only wire. You should be able to tap into the yellow power wire going from the main radio harness leading to the back of your radio. Otherwise, if you need even more juice, you could use one of the main ignition wires under the steering column if you really wanted. This should be the thicker orange accessory wire going to your ignition switch.

I just remembered something a friend did and had similar problems. When he hooked up the remote wire (usually blue in most systems) he actually wired it to the power antenna wire (also blue). There really should be no reason that the amplifier remote wire should not have enough power to turn on the amplifier. Its not powering anything, just sending an electrical signal for it to turn on.

davyboy, check to see what the voltage is coming from the remote wire. it should be a good 12v. if it's not giving you a full 12v, let's say, maybe 10v or so, you may be able to use a relay to turn on the remote wire. just wire a constant 12v through a relay (with a fuse, that jamming wires in and chasing them with a fuse blade doesn't always work out too well) and use the remote wire to trigger the relay to provide the 12v to the amp's remote turn on. that way the amp isn't on the entire time that the truck ignition is on, it's only on when the deck is on. see if you can scare up a voltmeter and see what kind of voltage you're getting off your remote.
