I did this mod a long time ago but never put anything about it online. I found on TrailVoy.com that someone converted a Saab 9-7x remote to work in their Envoy. I had to have it! Basically, I got the remote, took it apart, had a duplicate key made for my car but an all metal one, shaved it down to fit in the Saab key space, JB Welded it and put the screw back in. That was the remote. Then I had to shave just a little bit of plastic off around the hole for the key in the ignition because it wouldn't go in all the way. Also, on the back of the remote, I took off the Saab logo and got a little GMC sticker off some cheap valve stem covers and glued in on the back.

The key is fairly large and bulky but I do like it. Only problem with it is that you cannot use the key to open the door. The bottom of the remote hits the plastic and the key cannot be fully inserted. I never used that thing anyway so it doesn't bother me a bit.

Here are the pics!

That's hot! Where'd you get the Saab key and how much was it? I see this mod in my near future.

man that looks really good! there has got to be a way to just extend the metal part of the key a little bit longer so it'll fit in the door key hole. Even though you don't use it much and use the key fob to unlock, it would be nice to retain the functionality of the key 100%.
