Okay, I am new to the forum so hi. I have a question about the remote starter that I put on my wife's 2002 yukon xl about 3 years ago. I installed a DEI Python 1400xpl. We only use it in the winter months, because we have no garage. The remote start will start the yukon with no problem, but sometimes the check engine light will come on. When I first installed it, and the light came on, I quickly realized that the transmission would not shift out of 1st gear correctly. So now when we remote start, I disable it by pressing the brake pedal, :hands:then insert the key to engage the transmission, and the yukon will shift correctly. My questions is if I remote start the Yukon, and the check engine light comes on while it is warming up, is it damaging the transmission. I mean, it is not in gear while warming up, it is in park. I always make sure the tranny engages before I begin driving. Also, I know that the pink/white wire should be connected to the white wire at the ignition switch, and it is, but I still get the check engine light every once in awhile. Can you all help a brother out.

Sounds like you may only have hooked the alarm up to 1 of the 2 ignition wires on the vehicle, I read that if both are not hooked up it will cause symptoms like you describe, and could damage your tranny if you drive it like that. The ECU needs to see the proper start sequence.
