So any input on the best remote start/keyless entry system to use? I am sure that I used to have keyless entry and I am sure there is a module somewhere? But I bought it from someone who didnt give me a keyfob.

Also is this something I can DIY?

I did some research a while back and the Viper alarm with remote start and 1mile range seems like it'd be badass. Upon reading the reviews, it seems like it's very complicated to install it though and most people said they'd have a shop install it if they had to do it again.

Here's a link to it, but this is installed price. I've seen it in the $200-300 range on the internet.

Oh, and it has a MF'in temp sensor that sends info to the pager, so you will know when your truck is cooled or heated and ready for your enjoyment lol

I installed my own, but then again I used to install car audio and alarms for a living. I have an Autopage and I got it 4 years ago when I first bought my Suburban. Even after 4 yrs, no problems. And its badass, I can check the interior temp with my remote, All the same features as the high end viper alarms. And I've installed many DEI products. Viper, Python, Clifford, they are all good systems. Prestige and Code Alarm are good units as well. And if you are thinking about installing yourself, it depends on your experience in wiring. Its a whole nother animal compared to installing a radio and a amp. You need to tie into the computers, bypass the passlock system and interface with the doorlocks. Not an easy task at all if this is your first alarm install. But if you really want to tackle it, I can answer any questions for you.

I have an "Ultra" remote system in my Tahoe,i really like the two led blue lights that flash on and off when i lock the doors. They will flash as long as the doors are locked.

Look up some reviews on different systems and see what others say about them. You really want the best bang for your buck.

I was looking into Scytek when I was looking for an alarm/remote start for my Suburban. In particular, the one that had a camera and sent an image to the remote. I have read a lot of bad things about scytek, especially tech support and warranty issues. But then again that was 4 years ago. I'll check into those again next time I install a remote start if you say the tech suppport and everything is great now.

+1 for Autopage, especially if you dont want to pay DEI prices. I've used many different autopage units on different cars with no problems. If you compare model to model, Autopage has a direct competitor for just about every DEI model. DEI has had some issues in the past with remotes. Personally I'm afraid to use the pager on my 5902 since I hang my keys (all 12 of them) from a carabiner.
