Remove Front License Plate Bracket - 2023 Yukon?

I hear you! A buddy of mine who lives in PA (where you don't need a front plate) buys a lot of vehicles from a dealership he knows well in NJ (where you do need a front plate). He ordered an Escalade from the NJ place a few years back, and specifically said he didn't want a front plate on it. They called him to say the truck had come in, and when he arrived to pick it up, he saw that they guy was drilling the front for a plate. My friend said, "Nope, not taking it." The dealership panicked and scrambled and swapped in a new entire front fascia from another new Escalade of the same color they had. THEN he took the truck. LOL
Oh I am loving this story! I had purchased in MO but we are military so that’s where the AK reg comes in. MO installs on every vehicle. When they first called I told them it was a 108k mistake. But I knew the car was it for me and just… wow didn’t even think of the swapping fascia idea! I will save this for future scenarios LOL. My Tahoe had the holes drilled into the black plastic so it was whatever, but gosh… drilling into the actual paint I wanted to cry. I am happy with the plug look though, with all the sensors up front I don’t think anyone gives it a second look and it just blends. Clean from the beginning would have been best though.

Hello,

It's been a few years. My '17 Yukon XL Denali was parked on a public street in October, and a drunk driver in a Ford Focus managed to hit it hard enough to total it.

So - it's been replaced with a '23 Yukon XL Denali Ultimate.

My first move with a new car is always to remove the front license plate bracket. (Technically required in California, but the cops only ticket teenagers for that stuff.)

I see that this bracket is held on by rivets. An internet search says "just drill them out," but then I'll be left with holes in the painted surface.

Has anyone removed theirs, and can share their experience. Or - better yet - pictures?

Same situation here. I drilled out the rivets. I had a mobile body repair guy come by to fix the holes. It was about $400. It looks like it was never there. I would not go with hole plugs on a vehicle as nice as yours.

My '20 has the riveted holder up front too, apparently, so I just bought a black filler plate off Amazon.com and painted some screws and attached it in the holder. Looks fine to me. I am happy with the results.

Either that, or I’ll just put the California black plate up front. I’ve currently just got the empty black bracket on, and it looks ok below the blacked out grille.

Looks like the alternative is doing minor paint work on a new car, and I’m not too enthusiastic about that.
