Does anyone know if the aftermarket rear emblems require the removal of the entire bowtie which would mean both the chrome and gold or are there ones that replace jus st the gold section? It seems that many of them vary. I don't want to deal with removing the applique to remove the entire emblem.

I originally painted it but it did not hold up and it doesn't seem clean enough to leave like the ones above.

You don't have to remove the whole applique to remove the emblem...

well, I have tried two different aftermarket polished rear bowties and they both require the removal of both the gold and chrome piece. Any idea if there's one out there that replaces just the gold portion? I really don't want to tear apart the rear gate again. TIA

There are no speednuts or anything else holding on the rear emblem aside from some strong ass 3M adhesive tape. There are 2 posts used for aligning the emblem, but there is nothing on the back side holding the emblem to the applique. Use a hair dryer or heat gun and and some fishing line and saw through the adhesive on the back. You will have to stop once you reach the 2 aligning posts (one on each side). When you get this far you should be able to get your fingers underneath the emblem and pull it up. Clean up any remaining adhesive with goo gone or a similar product and apply the new emblem. None of this requires even opening the rear liftgate, much less tearing it apart.

To my knowledge they do not make an emblem to go over or on top of the "chrome" portion of the stock emblem.

Thanks guys! This will make things much easier.

I have no idea where I got that info, but i thought I remember reading that the rear was attached like the front. Maybe I assumed since there were two alignment holes, because at one time i was going to debadge. I considered purchasing the yukon applique and having it painted, but figured it isn't worth the hassle of removing the applique. Thanks again!
