I have access to a Denali heated wheel but it has the stupid faux wood trim ring on it. Has anyone removed it and recovered the wheel so it was like the regular leather wrapped wheels? I found the part number for the right color, heated wheel for my truck but most sites show it discontinued again and I don't have high expectations.

there's a lot about the heated wheels here in older threads. I guess it was perry popular when they were still cheap to buy new. I think I saw they talked about popping up on ebay from time to time. they are kinda expensive

the ring on mine was coming off when I got it. I slowly worked it off while driving over a month or so. it's just glued on. a heat gun would probably help. but the better the glue is the harder it's going to be. Florida sun had weakened mine for me.

with the ring off, it looks nicer but there's a grooved indent for the ring to fit in. it got annoying so I ended up mixing up some epoxy and putting it back on.

if you were to wrap it with leather, I'd probably just do it over the ring so it doesn't feel weird in that dent.

That indent is what concerns me about just pulling it off and wrapping over it without the ring. Im not sure if that could be filled in or not before the wheel was wrapped.

Also, the look of the ring wouldn't bother me as much as it never gets warm where it's at so I feel like just wrapping over the plastic would still create a cold ring around the wheel.

that makes sense. I dislike all the fake wood grain on mine. I bought some wrap for the dash stuff, but been 2 years and it's still in a shelf haha.

Actually I didn't think about looking for a black one. Amazon has them in stock right now. Just wonder how the black would look against my titanium interior...
