yes like that, a nice clean look, i have what you had before-without the plastic over the wheels on the sides....did you do it yourself?

is it even possible to paint my stock bumper all black? by a prof.

Yes check out my album "My Big Black Hoe" where I debadged and demolded and detrimmed the truck.

You will find it hard to paint a stock chrome bumper without the paint chipping off eventually.
Your better off trying to find a used Z71 black painted bumper or get a bumper cover like a lot of us have done. Mine is the SS Generation 6 bumper cover. It goes on over your stock bumper

There are many members on here who have done the same.

You need to have certain tools to do it so do a search on debage. You'll find loads of stuff on how to do it

Good Luck

How does the grill bowtie come off? I tried a search with no luck. I would like to remove it without removing the grill.

There are two verticle clips toward the center of the emblem. I would post a picture, but they aren't online at the moment.

Here is a link to directions and pictures. I just took the shroud off and reached inside with a stubby screwdriver to push in the clips to get the emblem off.

I have the dark green 03 Z71 and I'm in the process of painting my front emblem red, along with the Z on the Z71 emblems. I took the center caps off and painted them black, but not sure what I'm going to do with the emblem part of the caps yet.

you need to pull your headlights too, I just use the L shaped pin that holds these in once you pull them out GENTLY pull out your grille as far as you can and reach in the middle grille slat with the L pin right where the bowtie has the middle square. By middle square I mean the one in the middle of the emblem, it is a square with a rectangle if you look at it. (paralellagram not rectangle) these are where the clips for the tie are. you want to push them in towards the middle of the emblem. DONT BREAK THESE, THEY ARE A RIP OFF TO REPLACE. On second thought.....this might be better accomplished after you take the entire grille off once, so you know where it is....

EDIT* Look at my signature, the clips that hold the tie on are right outside of the vertical white lines I painted, exactly where the middle black line is. Push these towards the center.
