I am in process of removing my rear quarter trim panel in attempt to fix AC/Heat blender issue.

I have removed all trim, but am stuck on the cargo net bolt. It seems to have some capture nut on back. It is a black plastic on outside with a bolt on inside. it has three indentations on edges. Do you need an SST to remove this without destroying? The GM shop manual is kind of crap and their images leave A lot to be desired.

Thanks.

Okay, I figured it out. It is a bolt. Used some channel lock pliers and surrounded bolt with some heavy rubber. got it off without damaging the bolt.

Here is an image of the bolt once the quarter panel is removed. You can see the capture nut.

Here are a few more photos. Below that there is a press in fastener. This was a pain to get out but I managed to remove without destroying. The yellow trim tool is useful for getting this fastener out. It also helps remove some of the trim.

This image shows both fasteners installed, without the quarter panel trim piece/cover.

Anytime I've had to remove mine i just wrapped a towel around it and twist it off by hand. It gives plenty grip without any chance of damage, not that i'm really worried about a piece like that being scratched.

I tried, but mine was super tight and was not able. I did not want to mess it up though. I used a piece of 1/8"-1/4" rubber with channel locks.
