Removing Roof Rack... Some questions...

Hey Ryan,

I just did it, get 10 of these from Lowes:

I cleaned the holes with alcohol wipes and put a dab of silicone on the screws before tightening in.

thanks for that photo. I have been unable to figure out how hte damn retainers go into the body. how are those retainer nuts held in? Prior owner removed the roof rack and all the retainers and left me with just holes. I bought new retainers...just can't figure out how they stay inside the roof

Hey Jeremiah,

I don't know this for a fact, but I suspect it would be either a special tool like a pop rivet gun that would expand them while in the holes or they would be glued in with a super strong epoxy type glue.

Maybe there's some body work types on the forum that could chime in?

You could call a body shop in your area and ask them - they might tell you.

hey guys idk if its just mine but my tahoe does not require to put some srews on there to cover up the holes..its already sealed i removed my roofrack and its been lyk that for over two years with no problems

What do you consider to be " center strips "??

All is screwed.

The 4 strips in the middle was the "center" strips i am talking about.
