Recently, my 3 yrd old was in my Tahoe and put some sort of hair style rubberband around the steering column. Right between the back of the steering wheel and plastic cover. It then became tangle in there and since pulling it out of there I no longer have power to the horn, radio controls, cruise control. There is a "rotating connection" that supplies power regardless of what position the steering wheel is in. I believe this to be damaged since I have checked all fuses and since it all happened at the same time. I also have an air bag light going off. I know how to remove the plastic steering wheel cover that was no problem. Question is: How do I take the steering wheel off to replace the rotating switch behind it? Specifically, the horn button cover? Does it just pry off? I dont want to go messing around in there with the air bag. Anyone replace the entire steering wheel on one of these that gave give me some useful tips?

Thanks for any info

You are in luck! We just had a thread on changing out the trim and there was a link on removing the airbag and steering wheel. Trying searching the forum for airbag or steering wheel.
