Hello all. This is my first post on this forum. Just got me an 03 denali and theres a few things im wondering as far as my options. It has the stock cd/tape player with a 6 disc changer bellow. there is not an overhead dvd screen. i was very suprised how good it sounded when i was driving it home from the dealership. i dont normaly check that stuff cause i assume im replacing it all anyway. i am planning on keeping the stock speakers and amp installed but would like to replace the HU. this brings me to my questions

1. What can i do with the 6 disc changer? any aftermarket things that can go in its place? can i put a dvd player in it and have it run through audio in the back console control?

2. Will changing out the HU make the backseat console radio deal stop working?

3. Can I install an aftermarket overhead screen/dvd player and have the audio be controlled by that center console thing?

4. Is there a list of rpo codes i can check to make sure this thing didnt have the nav system, then replaced somewhere down the road? And where would i see the antena for a gps system.

Thank you for your time

I've been out of the game long enough that I don't believe there is a way to integrate the rear audio controller to an aftermarket unit. They may have done something in the last 5 years but I doubt because in my years of installing, you're the second person I've heard ask about it. It will still work the rear air if equipped because mine works in my 05 XL.

You can use an aftermarket overhead to play video to and from most in dash aftermarket DVD/nav units. The factory controller in console will mostly be useless with aftermarket accessories. Most overhead DVD and non DVD overhead screens have IR headphone operation rendering the console controller useless anyway.

You can google your RPO codes to find all options.

search your vin and it will list the options

and i dont believe the rear audio controller thing will work anymore with that, and i assume the 6 disc changer is the center console on your truck? like right under the dash?

what you could do is get a wiring harness from pac audio.com. its a plug and play feature and you can and an amp to it.

with the overhead dvd player, you can get an isgm575 or 535 depending on if you have the xm button on your headunit. its and iphone streamer or smartphone streamer, satellite radio. it has 2 aux that you can use. i use my for my smartphone and the other one will be for my overhead dvd player which i am replacing with bigger one.

replace the headunit first, i cant stand stockers, lol

and i'm not sure how that mounts into the console, but on my 96 i had made my own pocket out of metal and plastic and i liked it a lot more than a useless cd player, lol

just a thought if you're mechanically inclined and feel like making something for yourself

What's even more sweet is a 2-din radio that fits the hole. I've got a single din in mine and can hardly stand to look at it.

I'd like something like that with "Yukon" on it to put in place of my cd changer.
