I bought a set of replacement lug nuts for my Yukon. Had a set of tires installed at Costco and they said to replace them with original lug nuts. I double checked specs with another seller and bought another set that they claim to be appropriate replacements. They have the same shape/size (Thread Pitch: 14x1.5, Seat: Conical (Acorn) 60 degree tapered) as listed in the Yukon specs. But the cone seems smaller in diameter.

I don't like the original GMC lug nuts with the plastic covers. Does anyone have any replacement suggestions or should I ignore Costco's tire guy? Thanks in advance for any information you might offer.
Stay safe out there.

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

I am assuming that you have OEM wheels, correct?

The correct lug nuts for your Yukon (year and model please) is critically important for safe operation of your truck, and I'm sure that you already know this. If you have the specs of your OEM lug nuts, received from a reliable source, and the specs of your aftermarket lug nuts are the same, again received from a reliable source, that you should be OK.

If you have aftermarket wheels, then the specs of the lug nuts need to match the lug nut specs, specified by the aftermarket wheel manufacturer.

Other folks more knowledgeable than me on this topic will chime in. Please add your vehicle details to this thread, along with whether or not you have OEM wheels.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll conform my profile. I do have OEM wheels. Online references for lug nuts don't seem really on target. I bought one replacement at a GM dealership...for $10. Had ordered what was claimed to be the right nut for mine, and many other GM vehicles w/17" wheels. But the Conical seat doesn't look as wide as the OEM.

Thanks again for any assistance. I plan to keep my Yukon even with 240k. Runs and rides great after upgrading struts and shocks with Michelins.

Stay safe out there....

I was looking at your Yukon profile. I really like some of the upgrades, especially the radio. I'm looking to do that soon along with new paint. You put "RIP" on there. Did you lose it or get rid of it. Very nice looking ride, either way.

My current truck is the 07 Yukon XL Denali, and this is the truck that I have installed the mods on.

My RIP truck was the 1997 Yukon SLE, and I retired it to the junk yard, when the number of significant and simultaneous issues grew to the point where it no longer made sense to dump additional money into it. It served me very well, up to that point.
