Looking for recommendations on compatible replacement NAV/Radio system for my 2005 Yukon XL Denali. I want something that is as "compatible as possible' but has some of the newer capabilities like bluetooth connectivity, etc. ANY recommendations?

I am in the same boat. I want to replace the stock radio/CD player in my 2005 Suburban. I have been looking through Crutchfield. I haven't pulled the trigger because I can't decie if I want or if I need Android Auto. I certainly want the back-up camera and so for that reason I am considering having the radio installed for me.

Do you use your phone for anything besides phone call, navigation, Spotify (or similar), and the occasional message, in the car? If so, don't get/use Android Auto. If I successfully described your use case, Android Auto is very nice. I have a AVH4201NEX (Pioneer) in my Town Car. I'm not sure what I am doing for my '05 Suburban -- yet -- but I haven't seen anything I liked better. I will say that I hate the touch controls on the Pioneer, though; there is no tactile feedback for tapping the onscreen buttons, so you HAVE to look.

Almost forgot! I have the video player in my Suburban, and don't know if adding the Pioneer will allow me to use it or not. One of the PO already swapped out the top end, OEM unit, so the DVD player doesn't do anything at the moment (that I can tell).

I have a clarion nx405 in my 2006 xl Denali and I absolutely love it. It's a great unit. Nav is great, Bluetooth connects automatically, I can stream music over it as it mirrors what's on my phone, and call quality is great. The backup camera is pretty good too. Comes on automatically when I kick it into reverse. But it's wired to constant power and the head unit allows me to click into the camera even while driving forward. Which helps big time especially while towing small trailers that I can't always see like our jet ski trailer. I have the modules to retain steering wheel and door chimes. My only complaint is that the touch screen lags a bit in response. If you don't push firmly on the screen on the option it doesn't go. It's most apparent in the nav setup. Such as typing in an address for a destination, it takes a minute. But overall I'm very happy with my clarion and it does exactly what I want. And the sound quality is really good with the factory bose setup. I love crankin up my country playlist in Spotify and let it blast on my bluetooth. :DNice to have some modern tech in my 2006!
