I have a bose system. Installed a sony 4 way speaker in front 4 ohms. Have no problems with it.

Replacing door speakers scale: 3... depends on you though. I think you remove 2 screws for the panel. Lift the panel up to unhook it from the door. remove the wire connectors and there you go.

BTW, do you guys kjnow where I can get a ring adapter for the speakers?

I would rate it a 1 if you've ever disassembled an OBS door. Those 10,000 clips were a nightmare compared to 3 screws and a few connectors.

My infinities came with adapter rings. You could make them yourself with a piece of 1/4" MDF and a roto-zip in about 15 minutes too.

He says he has a NON-bose system.

I installed a set of infinity 2-ohm 3-ways in my buddies 06 silvy with no problems (non-bose also). Put a identical pair in my denali with no problems either.

Best buy is just looking to get extra cash for the install. I've never heard of such a thing as a "step-down transformer" in the car audio business myself. I have however installed many transformers at work (electrician) and they're all step-down, or step-up depending on which side is your line/load. However it makes no sense to modify the voltage going to your speakers.

Cliffs: You're fine with the polks (although your link didn't work) because any 4-ohm speaker will work.
