Replacing steel brake lines 2004 Yukon

Hi -- new to the forum and found you guys in my search for an answer to this question. I've read the background and done the homework, so I understand the basics. My 2004 Yukon suffered the same fate as many -- burst front line when going to stop while pulling up to the Arrivals at Newark Airport. not a happy moment! I know I need to replace all (they are just crumbling) and I know that you can find pre-bent kits including stainless ones (I saw somewhere that Summit Racing seems a good one but open to other suggestions). but here's my real question -- my dealer first gave me a phone quote of 1500-2000, which sounded real high, then when I pressed them that I heard about the GM kits being available to save on labor, she came down to 1000 or maybe a little less. (yes I know thats not comforting). my question is, how hard is this to do yourself? Esp without a lift? I'm real handy having just replaced the fuel pump on the same vehicle after those lines rusted through so I'm not a newbie. but can the pre-bent lines be snaked in w/o living the engine or taking too much out? anyone done this themselves? I've looked for videos but to no avail. thanks! john

That price is way too high, mine was done for $850 including the parts. The guy who did mine used nickel lines coated in copper and he bent them himself. Keep looking around. Try to find a reliable guy working for himself, thats who did my lines and he does good work. He also put my lift on

thanks folks. got a bid down to 1000 or less but still trying to decide if i should do it myself and save some money. anyone done it themselves?
