Hello all. Have lurked here for a while, my parents and a few friends have Tahoes and Suburbans that I have worked on for a while. Needed a cheap 4x4 and decided to look for one of these since I know them well. Wanted one that would clean up well with good body and paint. Think I did pretty good. 2004 Z71, 275,000 miles. Trans was replaced in 2018, but only has 15k miles on it. It was very very dirty inside. Paint looked like it could be saved. After detailing inside and doing a complete clay, and paint correction, came out very nice! Had a check engine light for a evap vent valve. Replaced that and passé emission test. Sounds like it has had some stereo work too. Just got the front seat bottom upholstery replaced. Amazing what you can get for so cheap with these rigs. Also swapped out the front lamps as they were cloudy and full of water. Figured I’d try the fancy DRL ones. Came out nice.

I love that green color; I don't see many of those around. Do you have a link to the headlights and turn signal fixtures?
Here is the headlights. You can get them off Amazon. These were the most OEM looking ones they had.

Installing and prepping these housings was a lot of work. The quality is questionable, but with enough patience you can get them in there and I was able to aim them properly. I added a bead of clear silicon around every lenses at the seam since I heard they tend to get water intrusion. The bulb inserts also easily allow installing the bulb sockets incorrectly which will also let water/moisture in. The plastic is cheap and if you force them on install, you will break the lamps.

That was a good year for those machines. I'd guess another 100k miles possible.
