So as a few of you might know I did a retrofit a few weeks back. And for the most point it was a success. However to be perfectly honest I'm not entirely happy with it. The kit itself is awesome and the cut off line is on point...just had issues during the build that started creating other issues. IDK if was the 25 degree weather outside slowing the paint dry time (I was in my garage) or the fact that mid swing of the build I had to leave in a mad rush for a friend that was having an emergency. Everything went pretty smooth up until that point. Got back later that day and it's like me and my boy Grant couldn't get our head back in the game. I started it off by cutting the the high beam out of 1 headlight instead of the low beam. So I figured since I have the lenses off I could just nightshade the high beams from the inside and fix that. Came out great.....except the fact that the black on the inside of the lense now glorified any oxidation on the outside that wasn't visible before. Prep it again to do the outside and it looked like Hellen Keller and Ray Charles collaborated on these. Then later on when it was time to reassemble, I realized we had installed the projector right side up but the headlights upside down. (they only mount one way and you can't flip mounting brackets)
So after all this they are in and sealed and working fine. Looks AMAZING at night. However in the "looks" department I feel it's lacking. housing is flat black and the shrouds are gloss black. If the nightshade would have laid down better and the lights lined up a bit better I think it would have been damn near perfect. So with that said I plan on ordering another set of lights and going for round 2. This time I know exactly what to cut and not cut and what to expect. And this time i'll make sure to do a step by step photo and write up. So ya....learing lesson there.
