Got off work at midnight and by 1:15 I had replaced all the steppers. Replaced the face with a white one with a trans temp gauge and had it back in the truck. Found out I have some backlights out as well. So when the needle kit comes in I am going to replace them then.

But so far here is what I have done

And the night view.. like I said backights are mostly out... wasn't this bad with the black face but the white has lettering slightly different. Which turns out I like.

If you have an adjustable temp soldering iron at 400 degrees without burning the board and a desoldering hand pump... it's quick easy and cheap. I got 7 steppers and 9 LEDs for less than 30 shipped

The white face wasn't either forgot what I paid for it. I just need to do needles now to silver and blue and maybe a carbon fiber ish trim. Or even silver.

I would consider reworking some members panels as well with. Case by case basis.

It will be much better with the blue needles and the blue LEDs backlights. I also have to work in a logo onto the gauge face. Not sure if I can get the vinyl that small though so it may end up as part of the trim. I will have to study it a bit and see.

For others that like this here are the links as they are right now as of this posting. I will add the descriptions as to what I searched for find these as well as the links will expire at some point I am sure.

2003 Escalade Platinum Gauge

X27-168 Stepper Blue LED

2003 Yukon Gauge Needle

Purchasing this already completed would have cost my $350ish exchanged PLUS having to get it programmed by the dealer for my mileage. Saving at least an hour of GM labor.

When I take it apart again I will take a picture of the flip side. so you can see the quality of work.

Changing the steppers too me about 35 minutes to complete. The LED's in the kit are said to be non polarized. I have not verified this as of yet I may tonight with my power supply.

I have $130 wrapped up in this quick project and I customized it to the way that I wanted it to be. Better than the $350+ from the vendors...

That's awesome man! I prefer the black gauges background but I love that idea of changing the color of the lights to blue. Thanks for the links.

Nice. I love the white gauges, but my preference would be for the black at top and left, to hide the symbols when they are not lit up.
