Ride quality with 22s

Potholes are the reason why I have 285-45-22 and not 305-40-22.

There's virtually zero difference in sidewall when comparing 305/40 and 285/45. If my calculations are correct.....it's 6.25 millimeters.

I’m wanting to mount the new OEM Denali wheels to my 07
And use the factory wheels that I have for winter driving
If I mounted the 22s and leave it at stock height from what I gather I’ll get some rubbing in the inside frt Wells?

My 22s, 285-45 - 22 s, slightly rub on my mud guards when turning. If I did not have them they would not rub.

I've looked those 2 sizes up a 1000 times and I will still stick with my 285's

I need new tires...Since I need new tires, I'm going to go ahead and move up to 22x9 wheels.

What tires should I get to keep ride height about the same?
305/40/22
285/45/22

Is one size generally cheaper than the other?
