Hi. Sorry if this has been asked, I couldn't find it.

On my 2008 Yukon XL with 240k miles, when I use the right turn signal the high beams come on.
How do I fix it? Do I replace the stalk?

My 18yo boy is driving this now, so I need to fix it ASAP.

Thank you very much for your help!

Stalk certainly sounds likely, haven't heard of that issue before!

That would be a first for what you described.

Thanks for mentioning your kid driving it. By chance has he added any aftermarket LED light assemblies or bulbs to the truck?

What you described is how these trucks can respond to the diagnostics interpreting a voltage similar to the 5v canbus diagnostic system.

I had this exact issue in my 05 Tahoe and it took replacing the stalk (or multi function switch as its called) to fix it. Install took maybe 30 minutes and most of that was trying to get the plastic cover off the steering column and back on without breaking it.

I did buy the stalk at RockAuto for like $42, thanks! I'm more of an IT guy and not a car mechanic, so I had the dealer I worked at years ago that gives me a huge discount on labor do the install when it was in for lower ball joints, front brakes and rotors, leaking CV (axle and boot), a door handle replacement w/paint, front end alignment, and the fuel purge valve thingy on the intake that popped a code, for $3800.

240,000 miles and running strong, purchased new! My boy in college loves it!
