Guess I will go for the 10" ones. Those are the longest ones that will fit my bull bar.

Do they actually provide any decent light? Most aux LED lights I've seen are pretty much for looks, but they do seem to be improving.

Interesting that they only give you the specs for raw lumens and not effective lumens (two different measurements). In an optically superior led specific reflector housing, the best leds on the market (see JW Speaker and the like), have a ratio of about 2 to 1 raw to effective lumen ratio.

These light bars have little reflectors around each led so let's give them the benefit of the doubt and say they give 2000 effective lumens to their 4000 raw lumens.

One HID projector (even off road hid flood reflector) will crush them.

LED technology is making leaps and bounds, but only the latest and most expensive (you wouldn't believe how expensive) technology can presently rival hid output ... barely.

As a side example: http://swipelife.com/2008/10/27/polarion-ph50-flashlight/

-----------------

ETA: Don't get me wrong, Rigid is a good company and 2000 effective lumens is nothing to sneeze at, especially from an led source. But in the end, you're paying $400 to get the output of the average halogen headlights.

Holy crap, Serge. 5,000+ lumens in that thing? And 50w LED's? Jeebus. And only for $2500.

I think my Olight M30 at the 700 lumen setting is too bright....

I bet you're also a member of CPF.... lol

I wonder how much the new BMW laser headlights will tack on to the MSRP?

nah, not a member over there ... those guys know their shit but treat retrofitters like retrofitters treat PnPers. :) Or so I've been told.

I'm not worried about the cost of the bmw lasers ... i'm worried that some idiots are going to stick them in their reflectors. At which point might as well black out the reflectors but for a few well positioned dots, and voila: disco ball driving.

Yeah, they are some crazy lighting techno-snobs for sure. They do know a lot, though, and if you want a good flashlight, it's good place to browse for info.
