Attic stairs are in. I called Lowe’s today because they were supposed to be at the store for pickup. They said Werner hadn’t even shipped them yet and didn’t know when I might get them, and when I asked her to call and see what’s up the lady said they’re real busy today but blah blah blah. As soon as I hung up I canceled the order and went to Home Depot and bought the aluminum one instead of the wood one, for about $200 instead of $100 but whatever, and I’m glad I did. It’s way better quality imo. And it’s installed instead of still in limbo.

The old school cabinet is about done, I just have to install the hardware. I kinda wish I would have bought some darker wood for the skirt I installed but oh well. I had to install it to strengthen the front, it was sagging in the center. First, a couple before shots. It was pretty ragged. While working on it I found the OG’s signatures on the back side along with the date they built it, 11/13/60. I saw quality when I looked at it originally and it’s cool to see the men who created it had enough pride to put their names on it. I don’t think you can find this good of wood anymore. It’s mainly just plywood but the doors are still perfectly flat 60 years after it was built. Insane, you can put a steel straight edge on them and they’re perfect.

Funny, no one wants the older cabinets because they look outdated so they'll remodel and throw the old ones away. Like you said-- the quality was so much better back then. To get something like this today you'll pay big $$ for it.
Pretty cool--60 yrs old and still in great shape.

I found a 21-gallon 2.5 hp HF compressor on LetGo, got it for $60. I know it’s a pos but it’s better than the pancake compressor I’ve been using plus it fits in the same footprint in the corner of my garage. Hopefully it will work better for me. When I build the shop I’ll look for a 60- gallon that’s decent quality.

The workbench is coming along. I decided on white faced hardboard for the sliding doors since it tends to stay flat and true plus it will clean easily. I’ll also be using it on the over-the-bench shelves and the other overhead storage area.
