RPM Guage

I have a 2004 Tahoe that sporadically will have the RPM guage rev up off the scale, however the motor is not reving up. It does not happen very often, maybe once every month or two, and usually lasts for a day or two before going back to normal. It does at times also interfere with the speedometer reading, but not every time. Does anyone have any insight as to what it may be (loose conection, moduel......)?

stepper motor is about to poop the bed... get rdy for cluster swap.

Does the stepper motor also control the speedo. If so there are guys around that will fix it for about $60.

yup, complete cluster rebuild, cost me about $80

Stepper motor. Go ahead and replace the lights with LEDs.
