I've searched this before and there are differing opinions on it.
My 2009 2500 Suburban has a loud rumble from the front end while in auto 4, when I hear the noise and switch to 2wd the noise instantly goes away. I'm thinking diff bearings or trans case, has to be something. My old 2007 tahoe LTZ was silent in auto 4, I used it all the time. I mentioned this at the dealer and they said that's normal and I was lucky my LTZ didnt make noise? Knowing my Tahoe was quiet, I really don't mind paying to make this Suburban right, if it will save me from grenading something later.
My suburban got worked over by the tow company, I hear the noise after it was being towed then dragged from the rear with the front wheels on the ground. It's currently at the dealer getting a quote for the tow company.
