I'm thinking of adding led strips above the running boards to light up when the courtesy lights come on for my 2009 Chev Tahoe LTZ. Has anyone done this before? And what is the easiest way to connect them up to the 12v power and the courtesy lights?
thanks.

It should be rather easy you would just need to tap into your ACC wiring and make a ground then drill and run the wiring through then weather coat everything

What product are you wanting to use? These 5 meter strips sold on eBay etc draw about 3 amps. I wouldn't suggest powering that from your existing dome light circuit. Instead you should run a new power wire under your vehicle to battery, jump point, back of fuse panel etc. Power a typical automotive relay with that, and trigger the coil from your existing lamps. Don't forget to fuse this new power line as near as possible to the power source. A 5 amp fuse and 18 gauge wire will suffice.
