Hi, first time in the forum. I am currently looking for a 3rd gen tahoe, and got one at a decent price with only 115k on it. It's a 2009, 4wd 5.3. After test drive, most stuff are fine, shifts decently too, but under the hood the tranny dipstick plastic tip is missing and has a very very rusty tip. The owner, assuming I had zero idea about the car Im looking for, says that tube should be sealed. Obvious Im shopping the car not the owner, and I know what he's trying to do there. Replacing the fill tube is definitely not an impossible job, but what else can that imply? Does that mean there has been water in transmission? The vehicle is in nyc area and I understand the rust can be quite difficult to control, but could he be hiding anything else much more serious? Carfax is clean. Would love to hear everybody's input.
