So I ordered my Rough Country lift today (Auburn Offroad Accessories on fullsizechevy.com) for my '99 4dr 4x4 Tahoe.

For anyone interested, here are the part numbers and got it shipped to my home for <$1500

6" lift #276S
Front Driveshaft #5082 (required if you have the np246 Autotrac)
Torsion bar Kit #89501
Rear sway Bar Links #1038

So on to my question...I've read everywhere the shocks that come with the kit are total crap so I'm going to upgrade. I'm a huge fan of Bilsteins and for a few bucks more, I'm sprining for the 5150's over the 5100's.

In terms of measurements...can I simply measure the front & rear shocks that come with my lift kit? i.e. measure them compressed and extended?

Measure the shocks that come with it. I'm still running the RCX shocks and they aren;t the best but they are ok till I upgrade

it's a 4" block. The 6" kits comes with a 2" AAL.....the difference in the 4 and 6 inch kit

will decranking to 4" place added stress on my CV's?

if canking 1.5" places added stress on CV's, then i would imagine decranking 1.5" would also add stress...any ideas?

just for everyone's info, i spoke with Rough Country and the block is 4.5" on back and 4.25" on front (tapered design)

I also just called Bilstein and their measurements are taken from CENTER EYELET to CENTER EYELET....not TOTAL length of the shock.

In regards to de-cranking. Most likely you will end up with great angles on the suspension components and CVs.
