Hey everyone happy new year! im new to this forum. i own a 2001 tahoe. I had a system in the truck like a year ago but know im ready to install a newer bangin stereo thatll be laud and still be on a budget. I am looking at (2) s12l7's 2 ohms and a kicker zx1500.1 2 ohm amp. so everything will be 2 ohm stable so i should be good on that. I still have my stock battery, and the truck is wired to 4 gauge kicker wires. my question is will i have to make any other modifications to my truck like a second battery, upgrade to 0 gauge wire, and or the BIG 3? The kicker system will be 3000 watts(1500 watts RMS) I also have a hid relay harness running to my battery. I just wanna make sure this system is going to be done right bcuz i dont wanna have any electrical issues cuz of having a 1500 watt stereo in a pretty much stock truck.

If anyone on her has any suggestions for me and or is running this setup in their truck give me a shout and your help would be greatly appreciated. I've been a auto mechanic for some years now so i have the knowledge to install and do everything myself on the truck but i just dont have that much knowledge on installing stereo's that will draw alot of voltage on the trucks electrical system. thank you for time guys:emotions122:

If it was me, I would do the big 3 in 0 and upgrade the 4ga to 0 from the front bat to the amp or dist block. This is a must, IMO.

You will most likely need a second bat to keep the voltage up, but I would try it without first and keep an eye on it.

Good luck on your install!

Well first i wanna make sure you mean the dvc 2ohms.. ran at 1ohm each times 2 to get your 2ohm load.. not the DVC 4 which is the 2ohm load divided by 2 for 1ohm load.. We just hit this wall with Skylers MB shallows and it sucks to get pinned to this decision with zx amps.

Other than that id def do a big 3.. and even maybe a cheap cap just incase.. part of the issue isnt the trucks electric system.. but also the amp dropping below safe voltage and clipping.. which will fry the shit out of subs..

Im pming you something else.. too.

I'd run 0 gauge and big three like mentioned.

Now, tell us about the enclosure you plan to do?
