Agreed, I am no pro, but I believe engine temp is a very big part of emission and overall engine tuning now a days.

Why would you want a cooler thermo? If your engine is running hot, your best bet is to find what has failed rather than running a cooler thermo in hopes of masking the problem.

lower thermostats dont do anything beneifical anymore. they used to back on carb'd motors and primative FI systems but anything made anywhere near recently is made to run best at the temp it was designed for. all you'll do with a lower t stat is burn more fuel for no reason as the computer will think its just not warmed up and adjust the air/fuel mixture trying to get it to warm up faster. nothing to benefit at all with that.

ok, i was just wondering because it gets hot in CA. im going on a road trip soon and the AC is gonna be on almost the whole time, so i was wondering if it would help the engine run cooler, but i suppose not. thanks for the help!

These engines need to run at a higher temp to burn off condensation in the oil.

our AC down here in texas is on 99.9999 percent of the time. only when its freezing does it change but for 9 months out of the year, in 110+ weather, the AC is on max mode... no worries at all. its built to be driven with a family inside and a/c on.
