Common practice years ago. Little clips put on the rocker arms kept hot oil from squirting everywhere. However correct preload, during engine assembly, eliminated the need to adjust clearence on the run. Engines with mechanical or solid lifters, were adjusted on the run as well. The engine bays on the vehicles made during the last 30 to 40 years dont have enough clearence or space to remove the valve covers easily while the engine is installed. Is this legit? No, we have hydraulic roller lifters that need no adjustment. That motor has solid lifters. Is this legit? Would this work on our trucks?
