Seat Heater auto on?

With the Viper remote start I had installed, they automatically turn on if the temperature is 32 degrees and below.
I'd be curious how that was set up. I have a Viper remote and would like to add that feature to a 2004 Tahoe.

Hi Nick, the remote is a Responder LE 5701. I'd be happy to have the seat come on with one of the aux outputs..from what I've read the trouble is is identifying the trigger wire in the drivers door panel, then the right trigger for it, i.e. pos or neg (I've read both) and the voltage for the trigger.

If I remember right. You would need either a DL1/CAN bypass module for it to work. Thats only on the 2003-06 Yukon/Tahoe. The 5701 is the system I had on my Grand Prix. If you do have the bypass modules listed above, you can also kick on the rear defrost using your remote. You have two options. You can have them kick on when the motor is 32 degrees and below, which they would kick on approx. 10 seconds after the vehicle has started. Or have them kick on every time the vehicle is remote started, regardless of temperature. I have it set up as the first option.

ON the 99-02 Yukons/Tahoes none of the modules have this feature. So you would have to go the route that was supplied in the link.

Ok, now that winter is over, I have this figured out.
I set up one of the aux functions on the remote to control a relay. The aux output momentarily powers the relay. The relay then acts as a momentary spst switch.
At the seat heat switch on the drivers door, there are 12 wires coming out. The heat switch in the door closes the contact between the dark blue and dark brown wires. Piggyback these wires to the relay's normally open contacts. Hit the aux button once, the relay mimics the function of the switch and will cause the seat heater to turn on high. Hit the aux again sets the seat to medium and so on. The switch in the door will continue to function normally.
Hope this helps someone else. I spent way too much time on this but will appreciate it next winter....lol

Terminal 85 was attached to the negative momentary trigger from my Viper remote.
Terminal 86 to constant 12+
Terminal 30 to the brown wire from the door seat heater switch
Terminal 87 to the blue wire. Hope this helps.

Marvelous. thank you. Do I need two relays if I want to do both seats? Or can I just use one and if so....just run both browns to Terminal 30?

Good morning Clayton,
I only did the drivers side as 90% of the time it's just me getting in it when cold. If you wanted to do both I would use 2 relays or a dpst relay to keep the two circuits isolated. I would not assume the wire color code would be the same on the passenger side. It might be but I don't know for sure. Having said that, the passenger side should be easier to find which wires need to be switched as there are fewer wires.
If you went this route, and you only had one aux output available from the remote, attach it to both terminal 85 of the relays.
