Seat heaters turning themselves off?

So the seat heaters in an 07 Tahoe keep turning themselves off after a minute or two (you can turn them on again, but same problem). It happens on both the driver and passenger seats, but not the rear. Suggestions?

This happened to a friend of mine in his 2004. The dealer said that one of the heating elements went bad so the system detects the fault and will shut them off. Not sure if this is the same issue you are having or not but sounds similar.
Do the seats heat up at all while they are on?
