seatbelt failure

so i was putting on my seatbelt this morning before leaving for work and i noticed that my seatbelt doesn't lock and more. for example when you jerk the seatbelt it needs to lock instantly and prevent occupant movement. but mine fails to do so has anyone else experienced this? any safe solutions? or should i go salvage one out of a pick and pull?

Some lock by the speed of the belt movement and some work by lateral gforce. If something is odd do not take chances and do not buy used.

Do your others still work the same as original that you think is faulty?

Dirt and corrosion can jam the mechanism overtime.
