Had an interesting one on Friday.
'04 GMC Yukon 4WD with push button selector including "Auto" option.
Drive home from work, pull into the driveway and DIC says "Service 4WD". Look at 4WD switch controls and see only the Red LED in the Neutral position lit up. No response from any buttons.
Shut off and re-started the vehicle (including opening the driver door to shut off the interior stuff and make the computers think I got out) and same thing.
Resigned myself to "put shop visit on calendar and call for appointment" and went inside.
Truck sat unused until Sunday. Got in, started it, all back to normal. Played with 4WD system a number of times that day, no problems.
Will the 4WD system store any codes with a reader that are worth looking at in this case? Anything specific to check or common failures that cause the button panel not to talk to the transmission?
