Ok, just ordered the $30 switch lol..

I have not really looked at how it comes out. Any tips to replacing the switch? Taking off the trim piece?

Yes, take the dash trim piece off, it will help to put the gear shift in neutral so you can bettet pull the trim off. Use your fingers to seperate the trim from the dash....snaps off and back on. You will be able to see the switch unit better then. You will need a small flat head screw driver to pry the tabs on the side so that you can pull the old switch out. You will have wires on the back that will limit how far you can pull the switch out, simply unplug the wires. Then plug the wires into the new switch and snap back in the place.

gdddup,

Sounds like you have the same problem bro. If everything seems fine then i would start with the 4WD selector switch. Cheap part and easy to install.
