I want to buy a 2022 Yukon or Tahoe.
I have a service dog and sometimes I need to leave the dog in the car whilel I'm at an appointment.
I have been looking all over the place for an answer including calling GM. GM said "in order to protect the environment, it is not possible to have the vehicle idle for more that 20 minutes and we do not support leaving an animal in the car". I think I was being read something a lawyer wrote.

The question is, can I change any settings in the conmputer to leave it running without it turning off?

Ford has forscan and I know the F150 can be updated to turn on something called secure idle. I was also told that through the interface, you can update the remote start idle time to be zero so it won't turn off.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm now looking at an Expedition or a Navigator but I would really prefer a Yukon or Tahoe.
You have a button on command that cuts that detail off so it can idle more than 20 minutes. Thanks California for pushing shit on all of us!

That procedure does NOT work on my Tahoe. You could buy Toyota, they don't have this bug.
Thank you for testing it, I read above that it requires a service bulletin to be completed before it works. I have been thinking about it and researching a used Duramax Tahoe versus waiting for a 2025 with the new Duramax.
Right now, I am thinking about waiting but 2025's are 10 months away at least and then I'll be hoping that there are no surcharges from the dealerships.

@DaveL
Install the autostart stop eliminator. autostop eliminator
My suburban will run till I turn off or runs out fuel I guess. It has idled for hours no issues. I can verify it has done 6 hours idle no issues.
I have the chevy keypad on my door, so I can lock and unlock and many other features while the truck is running and the key stays in my pocket.

Thank you. I didn't know that Chevy had the keypad option. I will look into it.
I was considering the 2024 Chevy Traverse or 2024 GMC Acadia. The engine scares me and it is March and the car is no where to be seen.
I'll wait for the 2025 Chevy Tahoe with the newer Duramax. Same MPG and I think a much nicer/bigger vehicle.

Great question…I bought remote start but haven’t had it installed. You maybe able to find someone to modify the remote start kit but if the vehicle won’t allow it I’m not sure how to answer your question. How do you transport your canine safely? I have a new service dog and he’s not rly still or calm on rides thanks!

I spend a lot of time at the hospital, sometimes (like when I'm getting a MRI or PetScan), I don't take the dog in with me.
Everywhere else, she goes with me.
Have u ever had to hand off ur dog or place them outside the scanning room instead? Thx

This happens all the time with service dogs, like your supposed to educate people who are ignorant to what they do and what they are for. Many seem to think they are only seeing eye dogs so how can you be without your seeing eye dog?? Just ignorance and opinionated idiots. Yes its truly a service dog that is trained. Yes you love him and dont need to torture him with poor environments when not truly needed for a little bit. Some of the animosity comes from scammers with emotional support animals brought onto planes torturing people for no good reason. Emotional support dogs are usually a scam and I agree. Service dogs are heroes and well trained.

My brother in-laws service dog detects his low sugar. If he is with his wife (my sister) they dont always bring the dog into a crazy, loud, crowded restaurant just because they can. My sister is checking and with him. BTW people hate seeing a dog in a restaurant, so many with service dogs when not needed 100% leave them in the car running just like K9 officers do.

There are alarms if car shuts off available, temp sensors ect. Personally my car and dog are never out of my sightline when we run in for a quick bite. My dog and truck are never out of my sightline as i am too concerned with theft of my truck and dog.
But when I get gas at a rest stop and run in to urinate....I dont feel compelled to have my beautiful dog lay or sit on a piss floor...its just unnecessary for my condition.

Its a big hassle with ignorant idiots at many places with the I am scared of dogs, that dog shouldnt be in here, its unsanitary, I am allergic to dogs, Im calling the Police I dont believe thats a service dog!!!! So there are many reasons if you can to leave your dog for a short bit. Even 100% legit and legal with federal laws ADA, it can be a hassle....and it shouldnt be. Its a federal law.

But I will agree much is from the "emotional" support scam dogs, barking, lunging, and untrained that people think of............

Back to the how do you bypass the shutoff regardless of the reason??.....
Rt on…I’m new to owing my service dog and idl to leave him but my condition has ramifications that it’s not always best to have him on a “pissy bathroom floor.”
