I know you guys have probably ready 20 of these threads and so have I. I recently purchased a 2011 Yukon Denali 6.2L AWD with 75,000 miles on it. I did purchase an extended warranty due to my last GM (Chevrolet 2500 Duramax) constantly having problems and being in the shop.

I got in Sunday or Monday and noticed the DIC showing the warning sign and was hoping it was only an electrical fault / issue or fuse. Unfortunately, it is not going away. I went to inspect further and found the shocks to be extremely worn. Take a look at the pictures and let me know what you guys think. Will this be considered a "wear and tear" issue with the shocks or is this an actual blow out of the bags? What exactly is going on here?

The pictures are of both rear driver and passenger.

Thanks in advance and all help is appreciated!

normal wear. They wont cover it and you will need to buy new rear shocks

It looks like the thing exploded and not normal wear.. Will purchasing the new shocks replace that cover or will that be part of the air system?

I'd be going after the Dealership on this one first..... considering you picked the vehicle up 2 days ago I'd say they did not perform their end of the deal by thoroughly inspecting the vehicle before they let you buy it. With that much damage I'd say two days ago there had to of been some visual indications of excessive wear/damage.

2 days of normal driving should not result in a failure as bad is this....

Just a quick update, the shocks were fine. According to GM, that is just cosmetic. Although I still ended up having to replace the air compressor...

Shocks were fine my ass. That is far from cosmetic. Sounds like they didn't use any Vaseline when it came to you. I never seen a shock boot like such.

By you replacing the compressor where is the boot on the shock for the air to go in. It's completely torn!!!
