Today while driving I noticed that my 07 tahoe was taking a long time to change gears. It would change from first to second around 4000 rpm, all other gears shifted normal just not the first gear which is the most important since I need that one to jump on to the highway any help will be most appreciated.

check fluid level and condition.

Unless it "only" shifts the 1-2 at 4k "no matter" what pedal position. Do not worry about it.
