Okay so I discovered the other day that with the key turned to the accessory position that I can stand next to the Yukon and grab the shifter and shift it out of park without using the brake. This is on a 2003 Yukon. Is this normal, or was there a recall for it or is the dealer blowing smoke by telling me it's normal because they sold me a lemon. I need answers I've only had this thing for three months and have had nothing but problems.

was it in the accy position or just turned a bit towards the accy position? alot of vehicles u can pull it out of park with the ign just out of "lock" but before it gets eletrical power in "accy" or "run". i havent tried it on the yukon but alot of cars are that way. if it works properly when running, theres really not much to go wrong with it- its an either it works or it doesnt type of thing so if its working in run, its not like half of it went out or something.

You have to use the brake to shift out of park in the run position but in the accessory position with just power to the radio you don't have to use the brake. It seems on safe.
