Should I buy 18" takeoffs for road trip?

Planning about a 4,500 mile road trip with enclosed trailer in February. I'm contemplating picking up a set of 18" take-offs with newer tires for better ride and mileage. Also to keep wear down on the 22's. Thinking I could probably resell them when I get back for only a slight loss. Any thoughts or am I just crazy?

To me I think your crazy.. lol. I don't see what the real difference it could be. You might see .2 mpg increase. But shouldn't be much wear on your rims. Only tires. I can see this if your tires are about shot? But that is me.

Actually, NathanJax recently went on a road trip with 17's and his MPG jumped up above 20 mpg  the difference in weight makes a difference.

Was he pulling a trailer too? I think that's gonna kill any "gain" from lighter wheels.

Nathan doesn't even know what a trailer is. Pretty boy Nathanal and pulling a trailer do not belong in the same sentence.
