Skid Plate Options?

Awesome - THANKS! That's a great deal for $96.10, I just ordered the set of 2. I assume that these 2 skid plates are the same size as the single plastic panel but use 6 bolts instead of 4, and I assume they share the center most 2 bolts? I also ordered the steel transfer case skid plate (part number 20922755) for $33.00. I am not sure how this one mounts yet, if it uses existing hardware or if I'll need to acquire hardware for this skid plate as well.

The two front plates require 8 bolts and the transfer case calls for 4; however, I have read of some members using 3.

Do you know if all of the bolts are already present for the 2 front skid plates or if more will need to be purchased? I did some research on the rear plate for the transfer case and found a set of 4 aftermarket bolts with the correct part number for around $20 on eBay. I am not sure if these are the same bolts for the front skid plates or not.

These are said to work for the transfer case skid plate as per another GM Parts Website, although I am not sure if they are the same bolts required for the front skid plates or not. They are selling for $17.99 + tax on eBay. There must be a reason that the thread pitch isn't listed otherwise I too would just go to the hardware store and buy some bolts for mere dollars.

The holes in frame are not tapped so that why I went with body bolts they will self-thread and also have large washer on them like factory bolts in plastic cover. The bolts you are looking at I would run bolts that came with vehicle first take out then install bolts you are looking at.

the oem bolts are self-taping, usually nothing else will fit. you might get the aftermarket bolts to fit after inserting oem self taping bolt first.
other than that DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN, they will strip easily and then you are stuck trying a find a larger bolt which will also not fit.
get them snug and walk away.

11518341 - BOLT, HEX, M10X1.5X25, 14 THD, 28 OD, 6202M, 7114M, TAP, TR-PT (ENG SHLD)

M10 = 10mm diameter
1.5 = thread pitch
25 = 25 mm length
28 OD = 28mm diameter SEMS washer
TAP = Tapping (self tapping)
TR-PT = Tapered Point

It seems as though your 8mm bolts are too small and lowes does not carry a 10mm option.

Yes, like I said I haven't tried yet. I've been going to pull a bolt and check but have had surgery and have had time to buy things but not installed yet. If you strip out, I think you have to go to 10 mm.

I think I'll get a 10mm tap and some hardware store bolts and send the $20 4-pack bolts back!

You could pull one of bolts in plastic cover take to hardware I think you will find they are 8mm that way if you strip threads you can go to 10mm.Good luck
