Hello folks.

Of course over the years, I've seen countless slammed rods, trucks, SUVs, etc.

Pertaining particularily to the OBS Tahoe, how do you folks "slam" a vehicle, then get monstrous wagon wheels to tuck within?

I know many slam 2 wheel drives, but I'm gathering that 4 bys are also on the scene as well.

So, what's the trick? Spindles, the offset of a wheel, chopping out fender wells, what? I imagine in high cost rigs, one might resort to narrowing rear axles, etc, but I'm not wishing to discuss such exhorbitant cost modified vehicles, just basics.

I'm not looking for an encyclopedia explanation, but how can you folks "tuck" such 22's, 24's, and larger under these vehicles?

What sort of offsets are typically used?

This post is of course one which I hope to be a bit enlightened, and educated.

I'm a dummy on stuff like this, and would like learning more for knowledge, and hopefully create a good thread here, where other members here can contribute some wise basic knowledge, which seems to not be written in any books.

Thanks all, Mark

ok what year tahoe? 2 or 4wd?

you can tuck 22s with a static suspension kit (4/6 drop) using spindles/springs and rear flip kit as long as wheel offsets are right. Hell my dad has a 3/5 drop and 255 50 20 and big 305 50 20 rear on 10 inch wide wheels no problem

Well, mostly in regard to OBS 4x4's, like my 1997 Hoe.

Yeah, I gather that on almost anything, a wider wheel can be placed on back for general applications (not necessarily slammed) The front is often where major issues occur.

Was like the '67 Stingray I once had, it was pretty much impossible to stuff wide wheels like the later model vettes had without running into problems. Going by memory, I think the '67 vette had 15x6 as stock. 7" was about max up front, unless some serious mods were done. Of course that was many years ago, wheels have certainly come a long way as to what offsets can be had, and other aftermarket parts.

As for like 22's for my own Tahoe, one wheel in particular that I like (9.5" width) did come in a number of different offsets. Two, were +25 (which I was told by the manufacturer would work on my Tahoe, but would stick out a bit, and then +30 which he said was for later model Tahoes and Yukons.

With that being said, I gather it must be then harder to tuck a quite wide wheel (9" and larger) under an OBS 4x4 Tahoe?
