Does anyone know if it is possible to program the AC fans to run for say another minute after shutting off the car to dry out the coils and keep mold from growing.

Though maybe BB or the dealership would be able too, but I haven't reached out to either of them yet.

Yes it is called afterblow. Here is an article I remembered seeing about how the feature, if turned on, may cause a dead battery if the vehicle is not run for a while. http://www.archivedsites.com/techli...t-battery-draw-dead-battery-or-hvac-odor.html

I assume it is also available for models later then 2011 since the article was posted in 2011.

I agree with HOE. You can do the simulation of afterblow by just leaving the fan On and turning Off the AC button for the last few miles of your trip. This method will allow the system to dry out without further condensation.

One other little trick- Don't constantly run your A/C in recirc mode or MAX A/C mode. This is the cause of so many odor issues.

Use the fresh air setting as much as possible.

GM sells one hell of an odor eliminator if you can't find frigi-fresh. It's not cheap but it works great.

The dealership can do it if they have a Tech 2. Ours did mine under warranty last week.

Is it much trouble getting to the evaporator in a nbs? I hadn't really noticed it before, but it just started the musky smell in mine the last few weeks.

Don't need to get to it. Plug your evap drain. Dump the goods down your cowl air intake and then some down each vent. Let it all sit and mill about for around 10 minutes. Then open your evap drain and flush water down your cowl intake to rinse.

Unfortunately my wife drives the car the majority of the time and the chances or her driving with the AC off in the Deep South during summer are slim to none.
