Currently relocated to MN and as the title says I have a 2wd Tahoe (Arizona truck). Looking for recommendations whether snow tires are worth it or not. I throw sand bags in the back during the winter. I am currently running 26570r17 Kelly edge tires. I have found quite a few 16” snow tires on various marketplace sites but not a ton of 17”s. Can I go to a smaller rim and tire size for the winter? Would that require tech 2 programming? (I have access to a clone)

I suggest that you take a look at Hankook Winter i*Pike tires, which are available in your size. If you prefer, they can also be studded with 3 rows of studs.

Imo get yourself a full set of powerstop drilled and slotted brakes for your truck helps me stop in the snow. As for tires as long as keep your foot out of it you'll get moving. Or put it second to minimize wheel spin. I keep mine in 2wd all the time when it snows here, and I full set of all seasons.

That’s kind of what I was thinking too. I got those tires last summer and didn’t do much winter driving this past winter due to being furloughed because of Covid so I don’t really know how these tires will do in the snow.
