went out last night and grabbed all my qrts of royal purple and a shiny new k&n filter, go out nice n early this mornin and the drain plug wont budge and me thinks the dealership with their free oil changes used an impact wrench to put the plug back in,never had this happen on any other cars, its usually the filter thats a ***** to get off, but either way i spent a good 3 hrs trying to figure out how to get the thing off while tryin to be careful not to strip the fine threads on the pan or the plug itself, ive been goin out to periodically soak it in wd40 then give it a go with the giant torque wrench but nothins workin, last thing i wana do is replace the pan/ plug and i'd rather not pay a garage to do it for me,
Any suggestions?

put some muscle into it.... socket and a 1/2in rachet should break it.... push instead of pull, it'll be that much easier otherwise there isnt much you can do.

i agree, one thing ive learned from workin on planes for the last 6 yrs is to loosen some things, you've gotta tighten em. put a little more torque on it to tighten it, that may break any corrosion or anything else not lettin it break loose, then try and loosen it. just my .02 .

True on the tighten a little before you loosen it theory, it works sometimes for me!!
Also, if you have a good fitting socket on the oil drain plug, use a breaker bar on the socket and smack it a few times with a mallet in the direction of loosening it while trying to loosen it, that works sometimes for me, just make sure you socket has a great grip on the bolts otherwise you will strip the bolt head.

Left loosey, righty tightey.

:D

Sorry man, couldn't resist. I second what the rest of the guys have already suggested. Short of heating the damn thing (not something you really wanna do near the oil pan, lol), you just need to get some PB Blaster or Kroil on that ***** and get the biggest breaker bar you can muster to get it loose. WD40 works ok but I've had better luck with PB actually penetrating stuck bolts.

WD40 sucks in the long-term it turns to basically glue after extended time/use

PB Blaster FTW!

WD-40 is a water dryer... Try PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench. Soak it and let is sit for an hour or over night. Then you should have better luck.

It's funny, I thought of this very thread yesterday as I changed the oil in the hoe for the first time. Sumbich plug would not come out. Luckily the Mrs actually got me something for X-Mas that I asked for and finally got to use: cordless impact driver. :hands:
