I had to replace the remotes when I bought this 08 Tahoe LTZ. I got the ones with the remote start button and I have the feature enabled in the systems settings but I get no results from the remote no matter what I've tried.

Is there a simple guide on how this works or a common problem with this feature or am I just incapable of operating simple machinery?

In order to remote start a newer GM, you need to press the LOCK button and then press and hold the START button for about 3 seconds, or until it starts. If the feature is truly enabled, that is the procedure.

If there are any active CEL codes, it won't remote start FYI.

Best of luck!

The remotes have to be programmed to the vehicle. The process is explained in your owner's manual. It can also be done with a Tech-2.

Or, you can take it to your local locksmith, and for about $25 and 10 minutes, you'll be good to go.

So I'm understanding this correctly, the remotes are programmed and will work for everything except remote start. Doors unlock and lock, auto lift gate and hatch work, but not remote start.
And you're saying that the remote start feature won't work unless it's programmed by some other means?

That may be the reason. I had a cylinder misfire due to collapsed lifter when I got the truck. I don't know if I've tried it since I had the motor rebuilt.
I'll try it again, thanks for the feedback.

Nope. When a new remote is introduced to the car and needs to be programmed, all of the other remotes have to be re-programmed to the car to work as well. If the remote unlocks door but does not start the car, that is another issue. A CEL will disable remote start.

That was it. The CEL was on before and now it is not and the remote start works perfectly.
As always, you guys win again. Thanks for the help!
